“Af góðu upphafi vonast góður endir.”
~Icelandic Proverb meaning “A good beginning makes a good ending.”
“The Ion Adventure Hotel in Iceland was yet another hotel I learned about from my Conde Nast Traveler magazine. This spectacular design hotel is in the middle of nowhere near a geothermal region of Iceland. Their stunning spa has a geothermal water fed pool overlooking a vast field where sheep roam, with a lake and mountains in the distance. This means you essentially have your own private hot springs right in the hotel! Naturally I spent a lot of time in there! The Ion Adventure Hotel’s other star attraction is it’s Northern Lights Bar. Built on stilts at the edge of the hotel, this unique bar has glass walls on three sides giving you unencumbered views of the night sky, and possible glimpses of the northern lights or the midnight sun. The lobby and restaurant are full of hygge with sheepskin, wood and luxe Scandinavian design. If you manage to pull yourself away from this beautiful hotel, there are numerous natural attractions nearby, from the fissure where the tectonic plates of North America and Europe meet, to waterfalls, to a geyser. Thank you for a magical stay @ionadventurehotel! Like Arnie, ‘I’ll be back!'” ~ Eileen from @lighttravelsfaster.
