We spent a lovely 5 days at the @hideawayrpc a five star Punta Cana Adults Only Resort inside the @royaltonpuntacana and I’m already dreaming of going back.
Welcome to Punta Cana
This was my second time traveling to the Dominican Republic and my first time in Punta Cana and I couldn’t have been happier with our trip.
Blessed with one of the Caribbean’s longest white sand coastlines – a whopping 48 kilometers (30 miles) – and punctuated with sky-reaching coconut palms, Punta Cana is the land of rest and relaxation by the sea. And the stretch that lies at the Hideaway Royalton Punta Cana, the 5-star adults only all-inclusive resort within the Royalton Punta Cana, seriously can’t be beat. 🌴
In the 71 countries I’ve visited, this beach was undoubtedly, one of the best. Soft white sand, warm turquoise waters, and endless palm trees meant it was nearly impossible to leave the beach during our stay at the Hideaway Royalton. But don’t worry, if salt water isn’t your thing, the Royalton Punta Cana also has a ton of gorgeous pools! It’s no wonder they say that “beach” stands for “B.E.A.C.H: Best Escape Anyone Can Have!”
Punta Cana is also a golfer’s destination, with 10 courses located all along the strip, a seaside escape with luxurious marinas and fine dining, and a wellness corner home to the country’s top spas, including the spa at the Royalton Punta Cana, which we took full advantage of.
Where is Punta Cana?
Punta Cana is located at the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic, where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean, and the Royalton resort itself is a mere 25 minutes to the airport. We couldn’t believe how close it was! Imagine going from the luggage carousel to the beach in half an hour! Yes please! The Punta Cana airport is small and calm, unlike other airports you may have visited previously in the Caribbean or Mexico. We opted for airport pick up by Nexus Tours, the Royalton’s own tour and transfers company and the staff were waiting with a sign for us outside the terminal. It was quick and friendly service we appreciated.
Arriving at the Royalton Punta Cana
Whenever people ask me for advice on what hotel to stay at in a certain location, my first question is always what kind of holiday they are looking for – couples, families, etc. But what if you have a diverse group of people? That’s where a resort like the Royalton Punta Cana really comes in handy.
As indicated, we stayed at the Hideaway Royalton Punta Cana, the adults only 5-star resort within the greater Royalton Punta Cana complex. Staying there provides you with access to an adults only pool, an adults only beach bar, a separate adults only set of beach cabanas, as well as an adults only restaurant – the Dorado.
But you also get access to two other Royalton hotels, (1) the larger, all ages #royaltonpuntacana within which the #hideawayrpc is located, as well as (2) the @royaltonsplashpuntacana – the waterpark filled Royalton hotel next door. As a Hideaway guest, you get to use all of the facilities in each of these hotels, as well as dine at all their restaurant and bars.
This means that you could have part of your group stay in the adults only portion of the resort at the Hideaway Royalton, while group members with kids can stay in the Royalton Punta Cana or the Royalton Splash. Apart from the few adults only areas prohibiting kids, you could still dine and play together, yet retire to your separate age-appropriate areas. This is a great option for diverse groups!
Room Types at Hideaway Royalton Punta Cana
The Hideaway Royalton Punta Cana has several different room types, but the two most stunning are definitely the ocean view rooms and those with swim up access. We opted for an ocean view room overlooking the adults only pool with views of the Caribbean Sea in the distance. See below for our stunning views!
Many of you asked this question on Instagram, and unfortunately, we cannot recall the exact room number we had, but we can tell you that our suite was in the building closest to the Hideaway Royalton Pool Bar and on the third floor to the right when you exit the main stairwell. By the way, did you know that Royalton now lets you choose your room number online before arrival! This way you can arrive and head straight to your favorite room.
Behind me in this photo are the swim up rooms, each of which has a private terrace and stairs down into the lagoon. Which would you prefer? Swim up or ocean view? Either way, you can’t go wrong!
Restaurants and Bars at the Hideaway Royalton Punta Cana
In terms of dining, Hideaway Royalton guests have access to the numerous restaurants at all three of the resorts within the Royalton complex, as well as the many bars throughout the property. Our favorites were undoubtedly, the Dorado (the adults only restaurant within the Hideaway Royalton), the Steakhouse in the Royalton Punta Cana, and the Italian restaurant also located in the Royalton Punta Cana (but adjacent to the Hideaway Royalton). Dinner Reservations must be made through your butler at the Hideaway Royalton. Note that the Italian restaurant and the Steakhouse are only open on certain days of the week, while the Dorado is open for all 3 meals daily every day of the week. This is also where you will eat breakfast as a Hideaway guest. You do not need reservations for the Dorado restaurant.
For bars, we loved the pool bar and the beach bar at the Hideaway Royalton, and the lobby bar at the Royalton. We also enjoyed the beach bar at the Diamond Club (an exclusive section of the Royalton Punta Cana) which you are given access to as a Hideaway guest. If you’re looking for a beach or poolside snack, this is the place for your as the bars in the Hideaway are currently beverage only. Whether you’re drinking at the Diamond Club bars or the ones in the Hideaway, each have premium liquors that won’t be available elsewhere on the Royalton property. These are included with your Hideaway resort pass. Both sections also have beach chairs that are reserved exclusively for Diamond Club and Hideaway guests, which we appreciated since it meant that we had quieter and more spacious areas in which to relax.
Royalton Spa and Entertainment
Another lovely aspect of the Hideaway Royalton is the spa at the Royalton Punta Cana. They have a full suite of treatments, from massages to facials and a relaxation room that includes day beds, hot and cold pools, and a lovely outdoor pool. We particularly liked the privacy and tranquility of the outdoor pool and being able to go from the hot pool to the cold plunge pool in a Scandinavian style format. Each treatment room also had an in-room shower which was perfect for removing the massage oil post treatment.
In terms of entertainment, there was live music each night in front of the lobby bar as well as various activities throughout the day such as pool volleyball. We especially liked the in-pool spin class which the Hideaway team put on. Imagine actual bicycles in the pool and an energetic instructor up front! So fun and perfect for working off those tasty piña coladas we know you’ll be enjoying.
White Sand Beach at Royalton Punta Cana
Last but not least is the stunning beach at the Hideaway Punta Cana. The Royalton sits on one of the best parts of Punta Cana beach. A small cove down at the end on which you can only see one other property (which was closed when we were there). To access other hotels, you’ll have to round a corner on each end of the small cove, making you feel like you’re the only ones in the world. There was no seaweed on the beach or in the water when we were there and also no rocks. As someone who loves to spend all day in the sea, I really appreciated this. The sand was incredibly soft and oh so white. Of the 71 countries I’ve visited, I can honestly say that this beach was probably my top one to date. From the huge, curved palm trees to the warm water to the soft white sand, I wouldn’t change a thing! So, are you ready to book your trip to the Hideaway Royalton Punta Cana?
